OUr vision

The year is 2024. People no longer feel scared to travel alone. They are empowered to meet strangers and jump into new experiences. They don’t have fear or anxiety about meeting new people because the world is now more diverse and inclusive than it ever was. People are no longer ashamed of where they come from or discriminated against because of it. No one thinks that their country is better than others. All over the world, differences are celebrated while curiosity and learning are embraced. Travel is now more impulsive & intentional while visitors immerse themselves in local culture. They ask the important questions when traveling and focus on supporting local communities. They are less focused on participating in carbon-footprint-neutralizing activities because visitors behave more responsibly now; they care about their negative contributions in the world. Slow travel is the norm because it allows visitors the time to really appreciate what it’s like to be a local in that destination. The world is even more globalized than it was before. We’ve swapped anxiety with excitement about new experiences. People living in remote places have best friends in all corners of the world thanks to easy and fun methods to connect. The fear around meeting new people is almost obsolete.

Racism, sexism, hate, and xenophobia do not have a place in the world we are trying to create. ​

We thrive on connecting people around the world based on their interests, whether language-learning, cultural exchange, or just more authentic human connection. The concept of ‘locals vs. travelers’ does not resonate with us because we believe that they are one and the same - people who just want to connect with the world around them.
WE SAY WHAT’S ON OUR MINDS AND ARE NOT AFRAID TO BE WRONG
Human beings are imperfect and so are we. This excited us because we know there will always be room for growth. We are aggressive in our messaging and outspoken on our views around travel, sustainability, and everything in-between. We want you to know exactly who we are because we want to know exactly who you are.
WE SEE VULNERABILITY AS A STRENGTH
Yes, we help people with similar interests find each other, but our users still have to do the rest. You see, connection is born out of strangers feeling at home when they are with each other and true connection isn’t possible without embracing vulnerability.
