While many locals have their favorites, the story behind Ray's is as rich as the flavors you'll find in each bite. The original Ray's, opened by Ralph Cuomo in 1959 on Prince Street, has spawned countless imitators and sparked legal battles over the years. However, Rosolino Mangano, who took over a different location in 1964 and created the "Famous Original Ray’s Pizza" logo, made a significant mark on the city's pizza scene. His pizzerias became a staple, introducing innovations like glass display cases for showcasing delicious pies. One of the most iconic spots is the Ninth Avenue location in Chelsea, famously featured in “Sex and the City,” where you can imagine yourself enjoying a slice just like Miranda did with Steve.
